My grand-father was a photographer and there was never a visit without many pictures being taken. My first job was working in the "Foto Shop" that my grand-parents owned. I helped at the counter, and spent hours looking through the photographs in the shop. Most of my time at this job was acutally spent travelling around the area with my grandpa while he took pictures of anything and everything that inspired him. When I left he gave me a gift, my first new camera. In high school I bought my first SLR, a Pentax K-1000. I then saved and bought a complete B & W darkroom set up. I went to work reading everything I could get my hands on about photography, developing film, and printing pictures. There was nothing I loved more than capturing images, developing the film, and then making my own prints. After I graduated from high school I applied to The Western Academy of Photography in Victoria B.C. I graduated from the professional photography program in 1997 and have been pursuing my passion ever since. I tried many different areas of photography including commercial, advertising, and weddings. I did not feel satisfied with any of those areas. Then I started photographing babies and children. I found my place. I look forward to every session with the same excitement and enthusiasm as if it were my first sitting. I feel a tremendous amount of accomplishment when I photograph a newborn baby or a child and am given the priviledge of helping their families preserve those memories forever. After all, they grow so quickly. I am proud to be a member of the Alberta Professional Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of Canada.
