gynecologists in Vancouvernewbie

Hey everyone :)
I recently moved to Vancouver from Europe and would like to ask you something. How do I find a gynecologist here? Do I go to a family doctor and (s)he refers me or do I have to find him/her myself?
Also, do I have to pay for the check up or are the expenses of the check up covered by my health plan provided by my husband's company since I'm still unemployed?

All the answers are greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance :)

Not sure if you already found out - assuming that you did but the only way it seems you can get to an OBGYN here is via a referral unless you have some other condition where you have to see one. I had a prior C-section and wanted to find out about my options and had to go via my FP to get a referral for an OBGYN.

However, I'm very disappointed with the system here; I had an appointment with the doc around 25 weeks and turned out he was not there and some trainee took the appointment (after waiting over an hour). I don't have my first appointment with him until week 32!

If there's a referral, then your MSP should cover it if you have it via your husband, assuming you've been here 3 months.

Where in Europe? I had my first child in the Netherlands where the care was infinitely better than in Vancouver.

Good luck!
