Another Massive U.S. Graco Recall

About two million strollers are being recalled after reports of four infants dying from strangulation in the U.S.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a release Wednesday recalling four types of Graco Children's Products Inc. strollers due to a risk of entrapment and strangulation.

There have been four reports of strangulation associated with the strollers between 2003 and 2005, the commission said.

The commission also received five reports of babies getting trapped and sustaining cuts and bruises on their heads and necks.

Strangulation is possible if an infant under 12 months isn't harnessed properly and slips between the stroller tray and seat bottom, trapping the baby's neck at the trap, the commission said.

The recall involves the Quattro Stroller, Quattro Stroller Travel System, MetroLite Stroller and the MetroLite Travel System. The products were distributed between 2000 and 2007. Eighty-eight model numbers are included in the recall.

The recall doesn't affect Canada, but the strollers were sold in the U.S. at major retailers, including Babies "R" Us, Fred Meyer, Kmart, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart.

Consumers are being advised to immediately stop using the strollers and to contact Graco for a repair kit.
